The three short films by Maike Mia Höhne from the 1990s provide a view of documentary and experimental narratives. What they have in common is the attempt to bring the non-verbal into the realm of understanding, or rather, in reverse, to question efforts to arrange and allocate things. The short films, at first glance tender, untroubled, and full of poetry, ruthlessly unfold the world of their protagonists, a world made up of phantasms.
CE SONT LES AUTRES QUI VONT MOURIR is Höhne’s second film, which was made while she was still studying at the HFBK Hamburg. FIN DE SIGLO is a film essay about the futile attempt to shoot a film about prostitution in Cuba. PETIT VOYAGE is a queer film, an attempt to find her own order for a new life.
The digital restoration was made possible through the film heritage support program (FFE) financed by the Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, the states of Germany, and the German Federal Film Board (FFA).
